The greatness that you are
Don’t you dare, for one more second,
surround yourself with people
who are not aware of the greatness that you are.
The right people will come to you
Don’t chase people; be you, do your own thing and work hard.
The right people who belong in your life will come to you. And stay.

What is a friend?
A friend is like the plant that grows in the same place as where you planted the seed. And this plant provides all of your needs and tranquilizes your anxiety. They nullify your fears and follow you to find peace. So many people will plant seeds and nothing will grow and yet they will still be misguided in to believing this is the actions of a friend. Others will spend no time planting the seeds and expect that plant to grow. This is not the basis of a true friendship either.
When they speak their mind and you have no fears to disagree. When they’re silent and yet you know their thoughts. When they’re gone and you don’t miss them, because what you love about them becomes more clear in their absence, than when they’re standing by your side. A friend does not try to dry up the ocean of your happiness, nor put out the fire of your wrath. They don’t resent your fortune, nor smile at your grief. They accept you for either and love you for neither.
A friend is as loyal to you as you to them. They do not lie, because they know you can accept the truth. They do not steal because they know you can accept the truth. They do not steal because they know you would give it to them if they asked, and they would supply you the same. They recognize your dreams and do nothing to stand in the way of them, but rather guide you toward them.
They do all this, because they know you would to the same. A friend is a rare commodity that a person will only find a few times in the span of their life. During the hours of days spent freely, these hours should be spent with them. For hours are minimal and if they truly are a friend, these hours belong to them.
It is important when finding a friend that you keep them, by making absolutely sure you are one as well.
Someone who changes your life just by being part of it
Sometimes in life, you find a special friend; someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop; someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

Imagine meeting someone who understood...
...and they’ll still love me for it
That’s what I want. I want a real friendship with someone who I can trust with all my secrets, and all my weird habits, and all my nerdy little things – and they’ll still love me for it.

It’s about who came, stayed by your side
Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest, it’s about who came, stayed by your side, and never left you when you needed someone the most.

How are you?
Fine.(Broken. Useless. Alone. Clueless. Confused. Betrayed. Fragile. On the verge of tears. Depressed. Anxious. About to break down. Ready to give up. Pathetic. Annoying. I’m just a burden. Distant. Lonely. Bitter. Heartbroken. Lonely. Rejected. Crushed. I feel like I’m going to fall apart at any moment. Empty. Defeated. Never good enough.)

Instead of killing yourself
Wait until
A year from now
Where you say,
“Holy fuck,
I can’t believe I was going to kill myself before I etcetera’d….
Before I went skinny dipping in Tennesee,
Made my own IPA.
Tried out for a game show,
Rode a camel drunk,
Skydived alone,
Learned to waltz with clumsy old people,
Photographed electric jellyfish,
Built a sailboat from trash,
Taught someone how to read
Etc. etc. etc.”
The red washing
down the bathtub
can’t change the color of the sea
at all.

Tired of running
“Please don’t jump!” Jane cried.
“You can’t stop me!’” Dick proclaimed.
“But why Dick? Why?” Jane asked as she wiped a tear from her eye.
Dick’s shoulders slumped as he turned toward Jane.
“I’m tired, Jane. I run, and I run and… I don’t even know where I’m running… or why. Or even what I’m running from. I’m tired of running Jane. I can’t do this anymore. I’m sorry”
If you know someone who’s depressed
If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation, depression just is, like the weather.
Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who is depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest and best things you will ever do.
